An instinctual attraction to inspiration leads to focused material studies. Reactions to current events, meditations on experiences that have been consuming my mind, or the materials themselves can become the subject matter. A long-term love for architecture and textiles informs the backbone of my evolving practice, intertwined with a dedication to my multi-layered process- incorporating elements of painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, woodworking, and fibers techniques. Continually exploring surface and what lies beneath it.
I often utilize the moiré affect - layering two patterns over one another to create movement and a sense of illusion. This tool is intended to heighten the viewers visual perception and engagement. The effect is stagnant until the viewer chooses to engage and activate it, making them an extension of the piece.
